Volsa: Kit

Rayn first found Kit when she was 10 and he was just a kitten, so since he was so playful all the time and was so young, she called him Kit (from kitten - lol such an imaginative child she was XD) He's probably the only one that Rayn shows her true personality too - due to her life so far she has lost her ability to trust others and is very shy, she usually pretends to rely on her own abilities to survive, even though she is so young. she is sometimes even cold towards people she doesn't know, yet in reality she is very sweet and kind of bubbly so Kit is her only real friend so far and is the only one she shows her real personality to.

The ring on Kit's tail is an item that Rayn bought him as a present and also as an alternative to a collar so that he is easy to identify. The beads and string with the pearl were items Rayn found kit with - the only two items Kit had managed to gather at that point - and so she attached them to the ring. The feather is one of the two Rayn once found on the ground - she liked them because they were blue: her favourite colour. She gave one to Kit - (the one with the most green on it) and kept the other for herself - attaching it to her panpipes instead.

About the species

Kit is a Cat-like creature with wings, called an Ailura (ae-loo-ra) or more commonly known as a Sky cat or Gem cat. Gem cats are reasonably common all around Voleros and have different appearances depending on the country.
Elavernis Gem cats have emerald green eyes and have golden (almost green) stripey fur with dark coloured wings. They are called gem cats because they are notorious for stealing jewels and money - people used to think they were sly creatures that always stole valuables, though it was later discovered that they just had a strong attraction to shiny objects.

Originally there was only one type of Gem cat, though as the species spread across Voleros, their appearances changed due to Evolution. The green tinge to the Elavernis gem cats' fur is mostly likely a result of having to blend with their surroundings (in Elavernis it would most likely be grass/forest).
Therefore the other countries' species are similar in that respect:
The Risohli species are brown/red in colour from the leaves
The Lumeria are white/blue from the snow
The Alora are gold/brown from the grass/feilds and sand

The eye colour is the most distinctive sign of the type of species, as the colour matches the precious substance in the name of the capital city:
eg blue eyes - "Sapphire City" - Lumeria
Red eyes - "Garnet City" - Risohli
Green eyes - "Emerald City" - Elavernis
Yellow/gold eyes - "Auric City" - Alora

Their favourite colour also matches their eyes, so they have a tendency to steal items of this colour - first realised when a lot of green gems went missing in particular in Elavernis

Kit here is very young - aged 4. Ailuras can live for 20-30 years, and change appearance slightly with age.
They act very much like normal Cats - they always land on their feet and are very fast at moving. They are also very similar in size, and have litters of around 5-6 kittens.
Ailuras can fly very well and are known for being "pests of the sky" as this is mostly how they like to steal - by swooping in and quickly snatching items.
